Content v Platform

There is a new dilemma for audio creators and publishers. Whether to publish content on one platform and encourage listeners to come and find it there, or ensure it appears everywhere. This presentation will compare the success of projects of that have lived outside of their host broadcasters with content that has remained within a walled garden. How does your content reach your intended audience if the platform it’s on limits its distribution. How will this affect content creation going forward and how much does everyone coming into the industry need to know about platforms. Where your audio lives will now dictate how successful it can be, and we may be moving from Content is King to Platform is King. The BBC has the opportunity to bring new audiences to podcasting and on demand audio, but face the challenge of keeping hold of their success stories when deeper pockets come calling.
